262. Deputy Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the likely timescale for decisions at EU level on the Brexit adjustment reserve; the schemes being developed by his Department to avail of such funding; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16259/21]
Amharc ar fhreagraNegotiations on the Brexit Adjustment Reserve (BAR) are ongoing in Brussels. Like other EU legislation, the BAR requires the Council and the Parliament to take their respective positions on the proposals. After this process, trilogue negotiations between the Commission, Council and Parliament will reach final agreement. I am hopeful that this process will conclude shortly but there is no timetable set out for these negotiations.
In the meantime, my Department continues to assess the impact of Brexit on the agri-food sector and the potential requirements for additional support.
