781. Deputy Cian O'Callaghan asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage the status of the Programme for Government commitment to incentivise local authorities to bring forward pilot participatory budgeting projects; when details of same will be announced; the funding mechanism to be put in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In light of the considerable other challenges facing the local government sector at the moment, particularly the ongoing response to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, I have no immediate plans to activate this measure. It will be kept under review over the coming months.
