Deputy Cian O'Callaghan asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the reason his Department and the Department of Defence approved the landing and presence of a US Navy helicopter at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel on 13 May 2021 (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. As I set out in my reply to the Deputy on this matter on 19 May last, the request for diplomatic clearance for this landing confirmed that our required conditions were met. Permission was granted on that basis.
