Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number of seizures by his Departmental investigations unit of a substance called cartrophen since 1 January 2018 to date in 2021; and the number of court proceedings that were initiated as a result of those seizures. Amharc ar fhreagraCartrophen is a veterinary medicine for use by veterinary practitioners only and appropriately authorised officers may lawfully seize this product in circumstances provided for under the law.
Records of all seizures are not readily available but I can confirm that a seizure of this product occurred in 2018 and that court proceedings were initiated against the individual from whom it was seized on foot of related offences.
