The Chair of Sport Ireland has sought the approval of my Department to fill the upcoming CEO vacancy, which will arise on the completion of the current CEO's contract at the end of this year, and to recruit and appoint a new CEO. My officials are currently engaging with the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform in relation to the necessary sanction of that Department in accordance with the Guidelines for appointments of CEOs of non-commercial State bodies.

No recruitment can be commenced by Sport Ireland until the terms and conditions related to the appointment have been approved by this Department and DPER.

In relation to any role by PAS, it is expected that the position will be advertised by PAS on the publicjobs.ie portal. Any involvement by PAS in the candidate selection process will be subject to discussions with PAS in the usual way for such positions.  No proposal has been received from the Chair of Sport Ireland in relation to a further extension of the  current CEO's contract beyond 31 December.
