104. Deputy Ciarán Cannon asked the Minister for Transport when the feasibility study into the double tracking of the rail line from Athenry to Galway city is commencing; when the findings will be published; and if the public will have an opportunity to make submissions to the study. [49931/21]
Amharc ar fhreagraI can confirm to the Deputy that the National Transport Authority (NTA) is funding a feasibility study in relation to service capacity on the Athenry to Galway corridor. The study will assess the optimal solution to increase frequency/capacity between Galway and Athenry on the Galway line and I believe this study commenced earlier this year.
Noting the NTA's responsibility in the matter, I have referred the Deputy's question to the NTA for a more detailed reply. Please contact my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 days.
