290. Deputy Eoin Ó Broin asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications the public appointment process that was used to appoint the new members of the Climate Change Advisory Council announced on 12 October 2021. [51186/21]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe recent four appointments to the Climate Change Advisory Council by Government were made in accordance with the provisions set out in Section 9 (3) and (4) of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 and Section 10 (4) (a) of the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021. These legal provisions define the range of knowledge and relevant experience required for Ministerial nomination for these posts. The four people appointed all had the necessary experience and knowledge deemed appropriate for their nomination to Government.
The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development Act 2015 as amended does not envisage a formal public appointment process in making appointments to the Climate Change Advisory Council.
