Ceisteanna (269)

Carol Nolan

Ceist:

269. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth the number of times Tusla has made an application for section 17 orders, interim care orders with respect to newborn babies including in those circumstances in which a pre-birth case conference has taken place and a court has judged that the child will be at serious risk if they do not come into care; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I thank the Deputy for his question relating to the very serious and sensitive matter of interim care orders being sought for newborn babies. As the Deputy is referring to an operational matter for Tusla, the Child and Family Agency. I have therefore referred the matter to Tusla, and asked that a direct response be provided to the Deputy.
