41. Deputy John Brady asked the Minister for Transport the progress that has been made towards the awarding of compensation to a person (details supplied) as directed by the European Commission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11733/22]
Amharc ar fhreagraI would like to express sympathy for the challenging situation of this case. However, my department has no role in providing financial compensation to the fishing sector. The Marine Survey Office of my department does not become involved with the financial arrangements for individual vessels in order to maintain the necessary separation of commercial and safety considerations. Matters regarding compensation may be within the remit of my colleague the Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. I would suggest that the individual concerned should make contact with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to pursue such matters.
