Deputy Charles Flanagan asked the Minister for Health the reason for the decision to transfer a patient (details supplied) with significant additional needs to a nursing home given that a nursing home environment is an inappropriate environment for persons with an intellectual disability needing additional supports; the measures that are being taken to address the lack of suitable nurse-led intellectual disability services to prevent older persons with an intellectual disability being put forward for nursing home care; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
