Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Education when a new secondary school (details supplied) will be fully operational for the 2023-2024 term; when construction works will start on site to accommodate students enrolled for 2023-2024, to allow for hiring additional teachers and to expand the choice of subjects to students; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe permanent accommodation for the school referred to by the Deputy is being delivered under my Department’s Design and Build Programme. This delivery programme uses a professional external Project Management team to progress the project through the stages of architectural planning, tendering and construction.
It is anticipated that the project for the school referred to by the Deputy will be included in the next bundle of projects to proceed to tender later this year. In the interim, my Department will continue to liaise with the school's patron body in relation to the school’s accommodation needs pending delivery of the permanent accommodation.
