Deputy Catherine Connolly asked the Minister for Health the details of the recent revision by the HSE of the Low Vision Aid Reimbursement Guidelines; the reason a three year time span has been introduced regarding the reimbursement of certain vision aids, in place of the previous one year time span; the reason for the new requirement that each application for reimbursement must now be accompanied by an ophthalmologist’s report; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
