The Green Cert is an accredited education programme delivered by approved providers including Teagasc. Successful completion of the Green Cert qualifies graduates for ‘trained farmer’ status.
Teagasc acknowledge the importance of providing accessible pathways for individuals seeking to qualify as “trained farmers” and courses are available on full time, part time and distance education basis.
Applicants for the Distance education programme must hold a Level 6 or higher major award in a non-agricultural discipline.
Individuals who have been deemed ineligible to complete the distance education programme because they do not possess the stated entry requirement (Level 6 or higher) have the option to enrol in a Teagasc part-time or full-time course to obtain the necessary certification.
Applicants can consult with their nearest agricultural college or Teagasc regional centre for guidance on the application process and to determine the most suitable course for their circumstances.
