A lecture to mark Seachtain na Gaeilge was given by Professor Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh in Leinster House on Tuesday, 5 March.
The lecture looked at the establishment of Dáil Éireann in 1919 and the foundation of the democratic State in Ireland.
Gearóid Ó Tuathaigh is Emeritus Professor in History at NUI Galway and former vice-president of NUI Galway. He was appointed to the Council of State in 2012.
