26 Feabh 2019, 16:29

The Joint Committee on Health will meet tomorrow to resume its Pre-Legislative Scrutiny (PLS) on the General Scheme of the Assisted Human Reproduction Bill 2017.

Representatives from LGBT Ireland will appear before the Committee. LGBT Ireland is a national charitable organisation which provides support and advocacy services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people and their family members.

Chairperson of the Health Committee, Dr Michael Harty TD said today, “This is a complex piece of draft legislation and tomorrow’s committee meeting will focus on the specific challenges facing same sex parents and their children in relation to Donor Assisted Human Reproduction and Surrogacy. The Committee looks forward to engaging with the witnesses on the issues around parenting pathways for members of the LGBTQ community.”

The meeting will start at 9am in Committee Room 3
