Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach to discuss Covid-19 payments and sale of AIB shares with Minister for Finance

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 January, with the Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe TD, to discuss Covid-19 payments and the sale of AIB shares.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John McGuinness said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with the Minister for Finance to discuss these important issues of public interest.

“Members look forward to engaging with him on matters related to Covid-19 payments, in particular dividends being paid to shareholders of companies that received Covid support payments from the State and Covid-related payments being retained by insurance companies.

“We will also discuss Minister Donohoe’s recent announcement that he intends to sell off a further tranche of the State’s holding of AIB shares.”

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach has 13 Members, nine from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.
