Joint Committee on International Surrogacy to discuss the prevention of the sale, exploitation and trafficking of children born into international surrogacy

The Joint Committee on International Surrogacy chaired by Deputy Jennifer Whitmore will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 19 May, in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House at 9:30am.

The meeting will be in 2 sessions with the first session focussing on the prevention of the sale, exploitation and trafficking of children born into international surrogacy arrangements and the protection the right of the child to their history and identity including their genetic, gestational and social origins with submissions from former UN Special Rapporteur on the sale and sexual exploitation of children, Ms Maud de Boer-Buquicchio and Chief Executive of the Children’s Rights Alliance, Ms Tanya Ward.

The second session will continue the discussion on the protection the right of the child to their history and identity including their genetic, gestational, and social origins with submissions from Ms Rachel Rowley Smith, Ms. Malina Simard Halm, Ms. Georgina Roberts, Ms Meredith Baldwin.
