Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade to address Foreign Affairs Committee

4 Iúil 2011, 14:07

An Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore, TD will appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs tomorrow, Tuesday, 5th July.

Chairman of the Committee, Deputy Pat Breen, TD, said: “I’m delighted that Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Eamon Gilmore has agreed to address the Committee on Ireland’s foreign policy priorities. As we formulate and agree a work programme for this committee, it is important to hear first hand from the Tanaiste on what he regards as the key focus areas and main concerns for his department. Listening to key stakeholders in relation to foreign affairs should help inform our work programme. I would hope that the Joint Committee will have an important and influential role in helping to further key foreign policy priorities including the promotion of human rights, the fight against poverty and hunger, a strong EU, as well as promoting Irish trade in existing and new markets which will be a key priority for the Joint Committee going forward.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 4 at 3.30pm on Tuesday, 5th July.
