Seanad Public Consultation Committee to begin Public Hearings

The Seanad Public Consultation Committee, which is currently examining proposals it has received on the “The Rights of Older People”, will hold a public hearing at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday 24 November 2011 in the Seanad Chamber, Leinster House.

Senator Denis O’Donovan, Chairman of the committee said: “I am delighted that we are now in a position to invite various groups to make a public presentation to us. Having examined the various proposals received by the committee, I am very heartened at the effort and thought that was put into the proposals and look forward to expanding and discussing the issues regarding policy and legislation vis-à-vis the rights of older people.”

The groups who have been invited to make presentations on the 24 November 2011 are The Irish Hospice Foundation, The National Federation of Pensioners Associations, Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland (CARDI), The Carers Association, Age Action Ireland, Institute of Community Health Nursing, Older and Bolder, Irish Congress of Trade Unions and the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
