Seanad Public Consultation Committee continues public hearings

The Seanad Public Consultation Committee, which is currently examining proposals it has received on the rights of older people, will hold its second public hearing at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday 29 November 2011 in the Seanad Chamber, Leinster House.

Senator Denis O’Donovan, Chairman of the committee said: “Following on from the highly successful hearing on 24 November, we are delighted to welcome two experts on the area, Professor Gerard Quinn of NUI Galway and Professor Rose Anne Kenny of Trinity College Dublin.

“The Committee looks forward to hearing Prof Quinn address the Committee on the added value of a United Nations Convention on the Rights of Older Persons, while Prof Kenny will discuss the findings from the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing Study.

“The Committee looks forward to exploring with both leading academics on the best approaches to bolstering the rights of our older citizens.”
