The Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will meet the Minister of State for European Affairs Lucinda Creighton, TD today, Tuesday 29 November at 3:30p.m.
The Minister of State’s presence at the meeting will allow committee members to question her in advance of the upcoming meeting of the General Affairs Council on 5 December.
Welcoming Minister of State Creighton, Chairman of the Committee Joe Costello, TD, said: “At a critical period for Europe, this monthly meeting in Brussels assumes a particular significance.
“Our Committee meeting today is a valuable opportunity to explore Irish government policy with the Minister in advance of that meeting, which will discuss the EU budget from 2014 to 2020, the European Commission’s work programme for 2012, Icelandic accession and Balkan enlargement.
“Crucially, the General Affairs Council will also prepare for the key European Council meeting on 9 December.”
The Committee will meet today at 3:30p.m. in Committee Room 2, Leinster House 2000.
