Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture to discuss funding of the horse and greyhound industries

13 Noll 2011, 19:02

The Joint Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture will tomorrow discuss the funding of the horse and greyhound industries with Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Minister Coveney will present a motion on the Horse and Greyhound Racing Fund Regulations 2011.

Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee Andrew Doyle TD said: “Over the past decade the Fund has dispensed €730m to the Irish horse and greyhound racing industries. Now that a ceiling on the fund has been reached, the Minister proposes, in line with provisions in Budget  2012, to provide €56.3m to the Fund for 2012.”

“The Committee welcomes the opportunity to question the Minister on the proposed state funding for the horse and greyhound industries in 2012.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow 14 December in Committee Room 1, Leinster House 2000, at 10:00 a.m.
Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
