Justice Committee to engage with designate chairs of Private Security Appeal Board and Property Services Regulatory Authority

The Private Security Appeal Board is an independent body appointed by the Minister to consider appeals made against decisions of the Private Security Authority, which is the regulatory and licensing body for the private security industry in the State.

Among the main functions of the Property Services Regulatory Authority will be the licensing of property service providers; the provision of redress mechanisms concerning complaints against auctioneers, estate agents and property management agents; the setting of other property related standards; the publication of residential property sales prices; and the establishment and maintenance of a public database containing relevant details of letting arrangements and rent reviews in the commercial property market.

Chairman of the Committee, Deputy David Stanton said: “Tomorrow, as part of the Oireachtas scrutiny process, we will have an opportunity to engage with Graham Hanlon, chairman designate of the Private Security Appeal Board, and Geraldine Clarke, chairperson designate of the Property Services Regulatory Authority on their visions and priorities for their respective agencies. Both designate chairs will have a chance to outline the challenges and issues they feel their agencies will face in coming years. Members will also be able to raise any issues or concerns they may have in relation to both agencies’ operations.”

This meeting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 27th March, in Committee Room 2, Leinster House 2000 at 3.30pm.
