Select sub-Committee to consider Revised Estimates for Department of Education and Skills

12 Meith 2013, 12:14

Minister Ruairi Quinn TD and Minister of State Ciaran Cannon TD will tomorrow morning attend a meeting of the Select Sub-Committee on Committee on Education and Skills.

12 June 2013

The meeting will allow sub-Committee members to question the Minister for Education and Skills and the Minister of State on the total expenditure for 2013 and the priority areas for their Department.

Select Sub-Committee Chair Joanna Tuffy TD says: “Tomorrow’s meeting should reflect efforts being made to strengthen the role of Dáil Éireann and its Select Committees in holding Ministers and their Departments to account for the proposed allocation of public funds. Minister Quinn’s and Minister of State Cannon's presence at tomorrow’s meeting allows the sub-Committee to consider the 2013 Revised Estimates for Public Services for their Department, along with the outcomes and effectiveness of the expenditure concerned.   These estimates outline the overall proposed expenditure by the Department and give information on the sectors in which the money will be spent.”

The meeting takes place tomorrow 13 June at 10 am in Committee Room 3. Committee proceedings can be followed live.
