Select Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government to discuss Housing Action Plan

20 Iúil 2016, 14:41

The Select Committee on Housing, Planning and Local Government will meet tomorrow, 21st July 2016, to discuss the Government’s Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness, launched earlier this week.

20th July 2016

Committee Chair, Maria Bailey TD says, “Under its Action Plan for Housing, the Government has pledged that 25,000 new homes will be built annually over the next six years. €5.5 billion will also be made available for social housing and infrastructure.”

“Our Committee will sit tomorrow in order to examine and discuss the plan – this meeting will allow Committee members to come together to analyse the Government’s proposals. Members will likely be keen to discuss issues such as the practical execution of the plan, as well as how it will be costed and time-lined. The current housing crisis is one we all agree must be addressed as a matter of urgency. As well as those who are already homeless, there are thousands of others who are at risk of losing their homes and facing homelessness. Our Committee will do whatever it can to ensure that the Government Action Plan is implemented as effectively as possible and we look forward to a productive meeting tomorrow.”

The meeting will start in Committee Room 4, LH 2000, at 2pm, tomorrow, Thursday, 21st July 2016.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
