6 MFómh 2016, 10:26

Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar TD will appear before the Committee on Social Protection tomorrow, Wednesday, 7th September 2016 to discuss his priorities for the Department.

Committee Chairman John Curran said: “The Department has a very important role in advising Government and formulating appropriate social protection and social inclusion policies as well as designing, developing and delivering effective and cost efficient income supports, activation and employment services and advice to those in need of social protection. It is also responsible to the delivery of these services in conjunction with other Departments, agencies and bodies. All Members of the Committee are aware of the hardship and difficulties that many of our citizens experience and the importance of social welfare services in addressing these problems. We look forward to our engagement with Minister Varadkar tomorrow to discuss and examine what he sees are the priorities for the Department of Social Protection.”
