Transport Committee to discuss Roads Infrastructure Programme and relevant current and capital expenditure

The Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport will tomorrow meet with officials from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and representatives of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), to discuss the Roads Infrastructure Programme and the current and capital expenditure which fund it.

The meeting will commence at 9.00am in Committee Room 3 tomorrow, Wednesday, 16 November 2016.

Committee Chairman, Brendan Griffin TD, said “The fundamental importance of a fully functioning roads network cannot be underestimated when it comes to an economic recovery that affects all of the regions of Ireland. In this meeting, Members will look to examine a broad range of connected issues such as the current level of maintenance across the road network nationally, a strategy for developing and improving the road network, the Capital Investment Programme, the status of Local Improvement Schemes and Community Involvement Schemes and the North South (border area) Transport infrastructure.”
