Finance Committee to resume scrutiny of Corporate Tax Reform Package, including Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB)

12 Noll 2016, 10:33

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow to continue its scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals: COM(2016)683, COM(2016)685, COM(2016)686; and COM(2016)687 - Corporate Tax Reform Package including the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB).

12th December 2016

The following witnesses will appear before the Committee:

•    Ms. Cora O'Brien, Policy Director, Irish Tax Institute and;

•    Mr. Seamus Coffey, Lecturer in Economics, University College Cork.

The corporate reform package proposal published on 25th October, 2016 provides new proposals to provide for a more modern tax system for business, to close loopholes between EU countries and non-EU countries and to provide new dispute resolution rules to relieve problems with double taxation for businesses.

The European Commission has proposed to re-launch the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB).   These are significant proposals for Ireland, which require close Parliamentary scrutiny. The CCCTB proposes to overhaul the way in which companies are taxed in the Single Market by creating a ‘common base’ for calculating taxable income.

The meeting will commence at 2.30pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
