One Family and Focus Ireland to appear before Social Protection to discuss issues facing lone parents

11 Ean 2017, 09:20

The Committee on Social Protection will resume its discussion on issues of concern to lone parents tomorrow, Thursday 12 January when it will meet with representatives from One Family and Focus Ireland.

Committee Chairman John Curran said: “As part of our work programme, the Committee prioritised a number of key areas for consideration, including pensions, lone parents and labour activation measures. Our meeting tomorrow will focus on lone parents when we will have a detailed discussion on the issue with One Family and Focus Ireland. One Family offers support, information and services to all members of all one-parent families and their children, while Focus Ireland works with people who are homeless or are at risk of losing their homes across Ireland.  Tomorrow we will get their perspectives on the issues facing lone parents, while Members will have an opportunity to raise any issues they may have in relation to supports for lone parents.”

This Committee will meet at 11am in Committee Room 4 tomorrow, Thursday, 12 January 2017. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
