Employment Affairs & Social Protection Committee to discuss MABS & CIS restructuring

22 Samh 2017, 13:43

The Joint Committee on Employment Affairs and Social Protection will resume its hearings on MABS and CIS restructuring at its meeting tomorrow, Thursday, 23 November 2017.

Appearing before the Committee are representatives from the Citizens Information Board.

Committee Chairman John Curran said: “Tomorrow, we will resume our hearings on the planned restructuring of MABS and CIS. In 2009, the Citizens Information Board, which ran the Citizens Information Service, took over responsibility for the MABS offices from the Department of Social Protection. The Citizens Information Board’s strategic plan 2015 to 2018 aims to revise the management structures and governance of the Citizens Information Service and MABs. Tomorrow, we will meet with representatives from the Citizens Information Board to discuss the proposals and their likely impact on governance and delivery of MABS and CIS services.”

This meeting will start at 10.45am in Committee Room 4, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Before this meeting, the Select Committee will discuss 2017 Supplementary Estimates for Public Services - Vote 37 (Employment Affairs and Social Protection) with the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Regina Doherty TD. This meeting will start at 9.30am in Committee room 4.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
