31 Ean 2018, 15:14

Representatives from Ulster Bank will update the Finance Committee on progress made in identifying, resolving and compensating customers impacted by the tracker mortgage examination when the Committee meets tomorrow.

Prior to this, the Committee will engage with Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis, Vice-President for the Euro and Social Dialogue, also in charge of Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, European Commission, on the EU Semester.

Committee Chair John McGuinness TD, said, “Our meeting tomorrow will begin with a discussion with EU Commissioner Dombrovskis, the EU Semester the framework for the coordination of economic policies across the EU, including Ireland’s progress in implementing EU recommendations for economic reform.”

“In the second part of the meeting, the Committee will return to the Tracker Mortgage issue. Ulster Bank will update the Committee on its progress in redressing and compensating affected customers. The Committee is keen to learn how and why the bank denied customers a tracker mortgage product or over-charged other customers resulting in unnecessary financial hardship for so many.”
