Joint Committee on Housing, Planning & Local Government to discuss the topic of our water systems and environment

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning & Local Government will meet tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11.00 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House to discuss the topic of our water systems and environment.

It is the first of two important Committee meetings scheduled for this week, with representatives from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, NUI Galway and the Irish Cosmetics, Detergents and Allied Products Association to attend on Tuesday.

In advance of tomorrows meeting, the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Deputy Maria Bailey, said: “This meeting will discuss the Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of the Microbeads Bill, and the Committee is eager to hear from three key stakeholder groups.”

The Committee meeting on Thursday (9.30 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House) will hear from Irish Water, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Officials from Dept. of Housing, Planning and Local Government.

Deputy Maria Bailey explained: “Thursday will provide the Committee with a general update on the water sector, as well as an update on an EU proposal which we had before the Committee previously and an update from the EPA on two reports which they issued towards the end of last year.”
