Joint Committee on Housing, Planning & Local Government to discuss Rebuilding Ireland with Minister Eoghan Murphy

5 Márta 2019, 10:22

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning & Local Government will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10.30 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House to discuss the topic of Rebuilding Ireland with Eoghan Murphy, Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government.

In advance of the meeting, the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Deputy Maria Bailey, said: “The Committee is eager to examine Rebuilding Ireland with Minister Murphy.”

“It is important that housing supply delivery is accelerated as we continue to tackle our housing shortage, with that in mind the appearance of Minister Murphy on Wednesday is a timely one as we check on the progress of Rebuilding Ireland.

“It is vital that we as a country meet the housing needs of our citizens, individuals and families and that our housing solutions are flexible enough to cope with the demands, including those which may arise in the aftermath of Brexit  in a little over three weeks time.

“The Committee welcomes the opportunity to hear from Minister Murphy and discuss progress to-date since Rebuilding Ireland was launched in July 2016, and the challenges and opportunities which exist to make better use of existing homes, drive new construction and improvements in the rental sector, and explore the broader aims of Rebuilding Ireland.”
