Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism & Sport to discuss Governance, strategies and challenges facing FAI

9 Aib 2019, 10:06

The Joint Committee on Transport, Tourism & Sport will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9am (commencing in private session) in Committee Room 4, Leinster House to discuss Governance, Strategies and Challenges when the FAI come before the committee.

Ahead of the meeting, the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Committee Chairman Fergus O’Dowd TD, said: “The Committee has scheduled a meeting with the FAI a week after we heard from Sport Ireland about governance, oversight and scrutiny of sporting bodies.”

On Wednesday last, April 3, the Committee wrote to the FAI and requested the appearance of its representatives, at tomorrows meeting.

“The discussion last week with Sport Ireland was insightful, and we expect representatives from the FAI to clarify a number of issues which the Committee queried a week ago, and Sport Ireland were not in a position to answer.

Deputy O’Dowd concluded: “Wednesday’s meeting is an opportunity for the FAI to be fully transparent and accountable when they come before us.”
