17 Aib 2019, 08:31

Representatives from the Environmental protection Agency (EPA) will be before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) tomorrow to examine the 2017 financial statements.

The following witnesses will appear before the Committee:

• Laura Burke, Director General,
• Gerard O’Leary, Deputy Director General
• Dr Tom Ryan, Director, Office of Environmental Enforcement

Chairman of the PAC, Seán Fleming TD, said, “The 2017 financial statements show that the EPA had income of €71.2m and 70% of this was in the form of State grants. The C&AG issued a clear audit opinion on the 2017 financial statements. The EPA has an extremely large remit, from radiological protection to licensing to environmental protection. Issues that may be raised by PAC Members tomorrow include waste management, water quality and landfill.”
