The Joint Communications, Climate Action and Environment Committee will resume its investigation into the National Broadband Plan at meetings tomorrow Tuesday, 25th and Wednesday, 26th June in Leinster House.

Representatives from telecoms company eir will appear before the Committee tomorrow in Committee Room 2 at 5pm.

Representatives from the ESB will appear before the Committee in Committee Room 4 on Wednesday, 26 June at 5pm.

These are further hearings into the Committee’s investigation into the National Broadband Plan to date and how best to proceed with the roll out of rural broadband.

Chairman of the Committee, Hildegarde Naughton TD said: “The Committee initiated these hearings to investigate concerns around the rollout of rural broadband to more than 540,000 homes and businesses.

“The first of our hearings on the National Broadband Plan was held in May and to date they have ensured a lot of clarity on many of the issues surrounding the plan.

“As we move towards the conclusion of our investigation we will be asking  eir and the ESB to provide further clarity on the process and it’s delivery.”
