Foreign Affairs Committee to discuss Defence Forces pay

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade and Defence will hear from representatives of PDFORRA on pay and conditions in the Defence Forces tomorrow, Thursday, 27June, Committee Room 1, Leinster House at 9.30 am.

Permanent Defence Force Other Ranks Representative Association (PDFORRA), General Secretary, Gerard Guinan is scheduled to address the Committee on the Public Service Pay Commission, application of the Working Time Directive and existing contracts of service for soldiers, sailors and aircrew.

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Chairman of the Committee, Brendan Smith TD said:

“The Committee very much welcomes PDFORRA which represents 6,500 enlisted members of the Defence Forces to our meeting. It is an opportunity for our members to hear the current experiences of our Defence Forces across all branches of the service – Navy, Air-Corps and Army - and the issues they are currently experiencing in relation to pay and conditions.”
