New HSE chairman before Health Committee

The Health Committee will hear from the new chairman of the HSE, Ciarán Devane, tomorrow, Wednesday, 3 July. Committee Room 3, Leinster House at 9am.

The HSE board was formally established last week after the commencement order for the  Health Service Executive (Governance) Act 2019 was signed. Mr Devane who previously served on the board of the NHS, England chaired his first meeting of the HSE Board on Friday

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Committee chairperson, Dr Michael Harty TD said: “This our first opportunity to hear from the chairman of the reconstituted HSE board. The HSE is governed by the board which reports to the Minister for Health. We look forward to hearing from Ciarán Devane on the priorities and plans for the health service in the months and years ahead in a range of areas including health spending and patient safety.”
