Joint Committee on Employment Affairs and Social to discuss the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005

The Joint Committee on Employment Affairs and Social Protection will tomorrow consider a motion to approve draft regulations laid before both Houses, a Motion on the Social Welfare Consolidation Act 2005.

The Regulations provide for the Registrar of Beneficial Ownership of Companies and Industrial and Provident Societies being added to the list of bodies that may use a person’s public service identity number. The Central Register is a requirement of the EU Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive.

The Committee will hear from Officials from Dept. of Business, Enterprise and Innovation, and John Halligan, Minister of State at the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation and the Department of Education and Skills with special responsibility for Training, Skills, Innovation, Research and Development.

 Both Minister Halligan and Officials from Dept. of Business, Enterprise and Innovationwill appear before the Committee Chaired by John Curran TD in Committee Room 2 at 12.30pm on Tuesday.
