12 Samh 2019, 09:03

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet today when Insurance will be discussed.

Representatives from the Central Bank of Ireland will appear to discuss the practice of ‘dual pricing’ for insurance in Committee Room 3 from 1.30pm.

In advance of this meeting, Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD said: “At our meeting on Tuesday we will examine efforts the Central Bank has made to explore the practice which sees some insurers charge existing loyal customers higher premiums than newer clients. We will discuss the extent and effect of dual pricing, the remit and actions of the Central Bank in this regard, and the steps that are required to address the practice.”

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
