Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence to discuss work of Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation

Deputies and Senators will hear from Barbara Walshe, Chair of the Board of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, and her colleague Pat Hynes.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s meeting, Committee Chairman Brendan Smith TD said: “The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation in Co Wicklow is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1974 as a response to the violent conflict in Northern Ireland. It is devoted to peacebuilding and reconciliation on the island of Ireland, between Ireland and Britain, and beyond. We look forward to hearing about the Centre’s role not only in the Irish peace process, but also in using their Irish experience to support peacebuilding efforts in other conflict and post-conflicts societies, including in Afghanistan, Haiti and in the Middle East Peace Process.”
