Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach to hear from the Central Bank

The Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, at  2pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House when officials from the Central Bank appear.

Topics for discussion will include tracker mortgages, post mortgage holiday breaks, credit union issues, insurance issues and macroeconomic stability. Gabriel Makhlouf, Governor of the Central Bank, will be among those who will appear.

In advance of the meeting, Chairperson of theCommittee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach, John McGuinness, TD, said: “The Committee very much looks forward to the first engagement of this Dáil term with the Central Bank.  The Central Bank is an organisation which we regularly meet as it plays a major role the in regulation of financial institutions with the protection of the public also of significant interest to it.

“Of course, we all know that the State faces severe public health and economic challenges associated with Brexit, and with that in mind the insight of the three Central Bank officials regarding the macroeconomic stability of our country will be of great interest to the committee.”
