Minister Simon Coveney before Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will get an update from Minister Simon Coveney, tomorrow, Thursday, 12 November, on issues discussed at meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council.

The meeting with Minister Coveney will take place in Leinster House, Committee Room 4 at 11.30am.

Speaking before the meeting, Committee Chairman Charlie Flanagan TD said: “As we are all aware 2020 has been a difficult year both home and abroad, however the Foreign Affairs Council of EU Ministers has continued to meet. Our meeting with the Minister provides an opportunity for Members to hear from Minister Coveney in respect of the important discussions of the Foreign Affairs Council. Members are interested in hearing about the Council’s recent deliberations on the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, the Middle East and Syria and other regions where there has been recent unrest.  Members also want to hear about EU relations with the eastern and southern neighbourhood countries, Latin and South America and other key issues discussed where the EU can develop stronger relations and cooperation.”
