The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow to engage with the Central Bank regarding a variety of issues, including mortgage arrears, business interruption insurance and the recent Davy case.

Tuesday’s meeting at  3.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House can be viewed on Oireachtas TV.

In advance of the meeting, Chairperson of the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach, John McGuinness, TD, said: “Tuesday’s meeting with the Central Bank will allow the committee the opportunity to discuss mortgage arrears, and the impact of Covid-19 in that regard. Furthermore, issues associated with business interruption insurance will be raised, and it is likely that we will explore the senior executive accountability regime in light of to the recent Davy case and the fine issued by the Central Bank.

“I would hope that in due course representatives from Davy will appear before the committee, as the organisation clearly has very, very many questions to answer after Davy received a significant fine from the Central Bank of €4.13m for breaching market rules. The more information that Davy provides the better. It is a matter which we will pursue as a committee. Our members have committed to doing so.”
