Budgetary Oversight Committee to hear from Central Bank

The Committee on Budgetary Oversight will hear from representatives of the Central Bank of Ireland at a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday 23 March in Leinster House, Committee Room 4 at 12.30pm.

Mark Cassidy, Director of Economics and Statistics at the Central Bank of Ireland and Rónán Hickey, Senior Economist, Irish Economic Analysis Division will appear before the Committee for the virtual meeting.

Committee Chair Neasa Hourigan TD said: “The Committee welcomes this meeting with Mark Cassidy and Rónán Hickey as part of our pre-Stability Programme Update engagement. Issues we intend to discuss include the medium term macro-economic and fiscal outlook for the economy, budgetary strategy and key risks faced.”

The Committee intends to publish a pre-Stability Programme Update report focusing on areas such as assumptions underpinning economic forecasts, particularly with respect to Covid-19 and possible fiscal objectives over the medium term.
