Joint Committee on Climate Action to continue discussions on reducing Ireland’s Carbon Emissions by 51 per cent by 2030

The Joint Committee on Climate Action will meet in the Dáil Chamber tomorrow, Tuesday, 9 March to continue examining how Ireland can reduce its Carbon Emissions by 51 per cent by 2030.

The meeting on how the Transport Sector can contribute to this target will take place at 12.30pm with:

  • ·Dr Elisabeth Windisch – International Transport Forum at the OECD;
  • Professor Alan McKinnon – Kühne Logistics University, Hamburg, Germany;
  • Dr Lynn Sloman – Transport for Quality of Life.

Committee Chair Deputy Brian Leddin said: “This meeting will complete our examination of how the Transport Sector can contribute to Ireland reaching a target of 51 per cent reduction by 2030 over 2018 levels. The Committee has recommended this target be set in the Climate Action and Low-Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2020 which is currently being drafted. Members look forward to hearing from our expert witnesses on how the Transport Sector can contribute to meeting this target in the coming decade.”
