The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will discuss The Proposal Initiative tomorrow, Wednesday, 14 April at a meeting in Leinster House at 12.30pm.
Barrister Neil McCann who is co-founder and current chair of Dialogue Forum in Belfast; Mayo based tech company CEO and addiction services advocate Patrick Quinn; and County Antrim based Noleen Diver who ischair of the Triangle, a housing and community support group, and the Collaboration for Change, a network for social and community change and progress will appear virtually before the Committee for the discussion.
The Proposal calls for “collaboration among all those of the island of Ireland, North, South, East, and West to create a new state, to be known perhaps as New Ireland.”
Committee Chairman Fergus O’Dowd TD said: “The idea behind the initiative arose from a year of discussions in the Belfast-based cross-community group Dialogue Forum. Neil McCann wrote the essence of The Proposal and it was added to and edited by Patrick Quinn and others who are part of the initiative. The Committee looks forward to this engagement to hear about the work and details of The Proposal.”
The meeting is taking place in Committee Room 2. Watch the meeting live.
