The Joint Committee on Health will get an update on the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination programme at a meeting in Leinster House tomorrow, 20 April at 3.30pm.

HSE Chief Clinical Officer, Dr Colm Henry and Professor Karina Butler, Chair of the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) will attend the meeting virtually in Committee Room 2.

Speaking before the meeting, Cathaoirleach of the Committee, Seán Crowe TD said: “Vaccination is being viewed as a pathway out of lockdown and a return to some sort of pre-pandemic normality. For the programme to be successful, it is essential that people have faith in the vaccination programme. People want and deserve to get as much information as possible on the vaccine roll-out, including the registration process for getting the vaccine, clear information on who can register and when, the current advice on the time lapse in place between each jab, current supply levels and the details of why the schedule was recently changed to strictly age based priority.

“There is also a need for information to alleviate fears or concerns some people have about vaccination. The Committee welcomes this engagement with the HSE and NIAC to address these issues.”
