Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment to discuss Draft Protection of Young Persons (Employment) (Exclusion of Workers in the Fishing and Shipping Sectors) Regulations 2021

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 27 April, to discuss the Draft Protection of Young Persons (Employment) (Exclusion of Workers in the Fishing and Shipping Sectors) Regulations 2021.

The meeting at 9.30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, will be briefed on the Regulations by the Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Damien English TD.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Maurice Quinlivan said: “These draft regulations are required to ensure the full transposition of EU Directive 2017/159 on the implementation of the social partners’ agreement on the Work in Fishing Convention. This Directive, among other things, prohibits young persons aged between 16 and 17 employed in the fishing sector from night-time work. The Committee looks forward to discussing the regulation with Minister English.”  

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
