Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to resume discussions with stakeholders in agriculture sector on 2030 Target of reducing Carbon Emissions

The meeting at 12.30pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House will hear from Professor Alan Matthews of Trinity College Dublin and Sadhbh O’Neill of the Stop Climate Chaos coalition.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “The Committee is examining how the agriculture sector, which accounts for approximately 35 per cent of Ireland’s total emissions, can contribute to meeting the 2030 Target.  As part of this sector by sector examination, Members would also like to discuss the potential use for nature-based solutions that enhance Ireland’s biodiversity while also contributing to our climate mitigation and adaptation effort. We look forward to hearing the views of Professor Matthews and Ms O’Neill.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
